Growing customer demands and the need to consolidate operations are fueling a $5.7 million expansion by Buffalo Forklift LLC.
The company hopes to add 21 new employees to its Amherst operations in the process.
Founded in 2007 by company President Arcangelo Capozzolo, Buffalo Forklift specializes in purchasing, refurbishing and selling used forklifts and excavators. The company has an estimated $20 million in annual sales.
After subcontracting work to operations in such places as Indiana, Illinois and Pennsylvania, Capozzola said he decided bring all the work back to his headquarters.
To do that, Capozzolo is moving and expanding his operations from Goodrich Road in Clarence to a 12,000-square-foot building along Creekside Drive in Amherst’s Audubon Business Park.
“We always like to see these types of opportunities arise,” said Brenda McDuffie, Erie County Industrial Development Agency chairperson.
The ECIDA, through its Buffalo and Erie County Regional Development Corp., approved a $1.5 million low-interest loan for the project. The loan was approved Wednesday morning.
Buffalo Forklift currently has 25 employees, but Capozzolo said by consolidating the work that he used to send outside the region, he expects to hire 21 more workers in the coming year.
